The organization was simply perfect: transportation logistics mapped and signs posted between the metro-stop and football venue made it easy to find your way.

But let’s start with the EuroGames Stockholm Opening Ceremony which corralled each country EuroGames Stockholm openingalong historic pedestrian streets before marching the over 5000 participants from 71 countries  before hundreds of applauding friends, family and Swedes to the tech savvy performance stage.

There was a clear focus on the power of sport on culture and human rights. The positive nature of the event inspired the teams to strive for more than just wins, but equality around the world.

Organizers of these events went to great lengths to create a magical experience for each player and team who were grateful for the many thankless hours that volunteers worked.

A big applause for Niklas, Lynn and their team of  volunteers was their reward.

EuroGames Stockholm - size matters

Size Matters

The final countdown is on – just a few more days and the 15th edition of EGLSF’s Eurogames will begin in Stockholm/Sweden.

Though people usually do not agree that size matters – and I am not sure if these people are really serious on that or if they are simply hypocritical – this time I am convinced that size matters:
More than 5.000 from 71 countries will participate in this year’s EuroGames; 27 different sports will be offered at 19 different venues.
37 football (soccer) teams; men and women will play 7 vs. 7 and 11 vs. 11.

Thomas Hitzlsperger (former German National player) and EuroGames Ambassador said:

It’s a great honor for me to be an Ambassador for EuroGames Stockholm 2015 and all that EuroGames stands for is close to my heart.

To practice your sport without being subjected to sexism, homophobia or racism is to me a basic human right.
For me, sports similar to solidarity and EuroGames is a great platform where we all are welcome to practice our sport and can feel welcome and comfortable regardless of gender, sexuality or background.

Out On The Fields survey results published

Out On The Fields survey results published

Out on the Fields is the largest and the first international study on homophobia in sport. Nearly 9500 people took part, primarily from English speaking countries. Participants included around 25% heterosexual men and women. Data collection, analysis and the final results were reviewed by a panel of seven academic experts on homophobia in sport from six universities in four countries. The research itself was conducted by global sports market research firm, Repucom. It was commissioned by the Bingham Cup Sydney 2014 (the world cup of gay rugby) in partnership with a coalition of LGBTI and mainstream sporting organisations including the Federation of Gay Games.

dotgay: Your Social Chatter is Needed .. Can You Help?

Your Social Chatter is Needed

Your Social Chatter is Needed .. Can You Help?

As we have previously shared with all of dotgay endorsers, dotgay is currently under review by a new CPE panel to determine if the gay community should have the right to operate the new .GAY. A decision will hopefully arrive this summer and we will certainly keep you posted on any progress made.

As we learned through previous efforts to be granted a new CPE, it is the voice of the community that creates the most impact at ICANN. When our community is realized as more than just a company applying for .GAY it generates a much clearer message to ICANN that the gay community is watching and that we will hold ICANN accountable for their decision. Now is the time to once again elevate our voices through social media to remind ICANN that we are still here.

Our ask of each supporter is to simply post some simple messages on your social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others. Below are some simple suggestions that you are welcome to personalize, but they only have power if they are shared with the Internet universe on social media. This is one very simple way to show your support and we appreciate you taking a moment from your busy schedules to assist.

Shortly we will share more details about a new selfie campaign that has also launched. Please join us in that effort if you can as well. The louder we are, the less likely we are to be overlooked as a community.

Thanks so much for your ongoing support.

Simple messages to copy & paste into your social media outlets:

Do the right thing #ICANN @TheEIU and say #Yes2dotgay

Our community has spoken #ICANN @TheEIU – It’s time to say #Yes2dotgay

Let us build a #gay-friendly .GAY on the Internet #ICANN @TheEIU #Yes2dotgay

If #ICANN is serving public interest they should be listening to the LGBTQIA engaged in efforts for a community .GAY #Yes2dotgay @TheEIU
